The community of Menomonie, Wisconsin, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jason Davis, a beloved friend, musician, and local personality whose vibrant spirit and generous heart touched everyone who knew him. Jason’s passing has left an emptiness that words can hardly fill, as friends and loved ones remember a man who lived life with authenticity, humor, and boundless kindness.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jason made Menomonie his home, where he built countless friendships and became a familiar face in the local music and bar community. He worked at The Waterfront Bar and Grill, a place where his laughter, energy, and love for people created an atmosphere that brought others together. A proud UW–Stout alum, Jason’s creativity and passion for connection defined not just his work, but his life.
Jason was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen and valued. He had a rare gift for bringing people out of their shells, inspiring them to take chances, laugh loudly, and embrace life without fear. Friends remember his quick wit, big heart, and love for good music and great times. He was a man who believed in celebrating individuality — whether it meant wearing a costume for fun, starting a spontaneous conga line, or lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
A close friend shared a touching memory that beautifully captures Jason’s spirit:
“I’ll never forget my first shift at the bar. You asked if I wanted to eat some shrooms — I laughed and said no. You grinned and said, ‘Okay, if the cops show up, you’re in charge!’ You were one of a kind, Jason Davis. Rest easy, friend.”
Another recalled how Jason’s encouragement gave them the courage to pursue music:
“You tricked us into opening for Charlie Parr — one of the best nights of my life. You gave us your sound gear and pushed us to keep playing. Because of you, we made music for nine years. All because of you.”
Jason Davis was more than a friend — he was a brother, a mentor, and a force of joy who made life brighter for everyone he met. His legacy will live on in the music he inspired, the laughter he sparked, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Rest in power, Jason Davis.
May you dance in the light, surrounded by the same love and laughter you gave so freely in this world.
